That’s So Hipster.

That’s So Hipster.

It’s a disgustingly hipster online store – but everything is so wonderful it makes me want to abuse my credit card O.o The internal debates I have when I look at this site are horrifying.

It’s South African too – always a plus.

Pretty cool timewaster and the old-school feel rocks.  Check it out.

Simple Solution

I always put cash and cards at the back of my iPhone – and lose both.  This is such a cool, simple idea. I’m ordering one.

The Great Man Bag Debate

Right.  I recently found myself being mercilessly teased for my overflowing pockets.  Generally I keep a pack of smokes, a wallet, my iPhone, a lighter, keys, mints and various other supplies in my pockets at all times and I suck up the frustration of being over-packed in the hopes that I can cling to my waning threads of masculinity in this metrosexual world.  Why do I do this?  The Flying Spaghetti Monster alone knows.  I broke down in shopping mode the other day after losing my 500th pack of cigarettes and bought a -gasp- man bag.  Why I have never done this before I have no clue – I haven’t lost anything in a week and the stress of an overflowing pocket is gone (I think it lowered my cholesterol too).  So a word of advice to all men – get a bag,  women have been doing it for years and not only to look pretty, it’s functional, looks better than white trash pockets and curbs that ever annoying cigarette pack loss.

Some tips:

Wide straps look more masculine.

Wear the bag at your waste and not under your arm or near your middle.

Bight colours are not cool – stick to browns, greys and blacks.

Zips > Buttons:  Less chance of losing things and harder for pick-pockets.

Spend some cash if you can spare it – a cheap bag can look school-boyish.

Carwash vs. Coffee Shop.

I don’t think there is anything worse than a hipster designer sitting at a coffee shop with a MacBook. It’s horrible and creates the impression of your typical starving artist in the big city trying to make a name for themselves. I do however have to admit that it does have a certain something when it comes to idea generation. I’ve been thinking of alternatives to being trapped in my flat without the added disaster of being labelled a hipster and it finally came to me this afternoon at the carwash. It’s a nice chilled environment, I get to feel productive because I’m getting something cleaned and I don’t have to look like a hipster – bonus! Seriously though, it’s a great environment and it’s good for the soul to get out and do something that takes you away for an hour or 2, plus the fact that there is little else as awesome as a a squeaky clean car. Carwashes tend to have plug points for their vacuum cleaners which is also a plus.

Do it.
