August 28th – It’s going down. If you don’t know who Alanis Morissette is, you have worse problems than we can deal with here. If you do, you either love her to the point of obsession or hate her with the fire of a thousand suns. I lean more towards the obsessive stalker side of the scale.
Whichever way you lean, you cannot deny that her career has been a success, with 7 Grammy awards, close to a million Junos (those strange Canadians…) and a multitude of obsessive fans, she took the world by storm in the 90s and has remained a strong yet reserved voice for over 15 years.
FINALLY, her new album, Havoc and Bright Lights drops on the 28th of August – I’ve already ordered my limited edition Japanese import ^_^ – and judging by the sample tracks, it is going to be a stellar album. It isn’t quite angry, and it’s not spiritual (as such), but rather a blend of the two, over-laid with the sonic wafflings of Guy Sigsworth (Frou Frou, Madonna, U2) – I’m excited.
Check out the first single, Guardian, here. Love it or feel my wrath.
